The IMPOC is an innovative measurement device that utilizes electromagnetic induction to make constant non-destructive, in-line measurements of the mechanical strength of thin steel atrip.
The device allows continuous strength measurements along throughout the entire length of steel strip, thus leading to dramatically enhanced quality management.
The device contributes to not only improvements in quality at steel works but also greater efficiency of production processes for users.
Conventional measurement of material strength only provided partial strength measurements because the entire length of a steel strip could not be sampled. The continuous measurements that the IMPOC takes allow the user to identify any changes in the mechanical strength of the entire length of a steel strip. This then results in improved quality through feedback being provided from previous production processes and enhanced levels of control over steel plates by enabling any non-conforming parts of insufficient strength to be removed or different strengths taken into consideration. In addition, steel strip users can reduce any down time because the strength of the entire steel strip is inspected.
