The SORM 3plus is an in-line device used to measure the roughness of the surface of steel plates being produced without actually coming in contact with them.
Conventional roughness measurements using a sensing pin required the production line to be stopped or samples collected for off-line gauge measurements made in a laboratory. The SORM 3plus is the realization of in-line measurements being made.
Utilization of this device allows the quality of steel plates to be improved and the timing of roller replacement more easily scheduled.
